Questions

What is the waitlist for?

divieight is building the technology that makes co-owning a second home actually work — the screening, the paperwork, and much more. It’s a platform still in development.

At the moment we’re at the waitlist stage: finding out which markets have enough people in them to be worth opening. But there are hundreds of markets that offer stunning possibilities.

So, go ahead, give us a hint as to what your dream might be!

What am I actually paying for?

You’d be paying for valuable information and access while you wait. The Market Pass is $40 and includes a video learning library, a fortnightly newsletter on how your market is filling, market development reports and live briefings with our founder. Charter Member is $50. It gets everything in the Market Pass and adds the video community where you can see and hear short introductions from others in your market. Plus, it adds open Q&A sessions, a cost worksheet for your market, a small-group orientation, and first notice when your market opens.

Referencing again our platform: A waitlist contribution is not the platform use fee. That platform fee is a one-time separate charge, in a different amount, payable at enrollment after a market opens. At that time, the platform handles your screening, your paperwork and more.

What has to happen before a market opens?

Twenty buyers and eight licensed agents have to have waitlisted in that market, and two title or escrow firms have to have registered interest. When all three are met it goes to review — opening it is a decision we make, and we let you know when it’s made. You can watch those three numbers move on any market page. There are currently twenty-two markets open to join. But tell us what your preferred market is. It is how we learn.

Can I get my money back?

Yes, for any reason or none. Forty-five days from your most recent payment on a Market Pass, sixty on Charter Member. The full amount — no partial refunds and no forfeiture. There’s a form on the site, and funds go back to your original card within ten business days.

What if my market never opens?

Your money becomes refundable again. Beyond the ordinary window there’s a second right: if your declared market hasn’t opened within twelve months of your most recent payment, your contribution becomes fully refundable on that date and stays refundable. It revives by the calendar, and divieight can’t defer it, shorten it, condition it or waive it.

Do I pick the other co-owners I may possibly partner with?

No. Nobody browses, shortlists, ranks or messages anyone — there’s no way to do any of it, and none of it is being built. Charter Members can watch short introductions from others in their market and record one themselves, and that’s so you can see who’s joining, not so anyone can choose anyone.

Do I use my own agent?

Yes. If you already have a real estate agent you want to work with, you name them, and nothing requires you to accept anyone else. Nothing on the waitlist asks about this — it comes up when a market opens.

Is this a timeshare?

No, and the difference is ownership. A timeshare sells you the right to use something somebody else owns. Here, eight buyers own the property together through an ownership entity created for them, and each holds a real share in that entity.
